This year, my focus word is INTENTIONAL.  According to Weber.edu, the meaning of being intentional is:

Making deliberate choices to reflect what is most important to us. Becoming intentional can help us maintain a positive mindset, reach goals, experience more clarity, and be more present. It can also increase our focus and commitment and bring more purpose and meaning to our lives.

I’m intentionally taking the time to think about the food I eat and asking myself:
  1. Do I really need this?
  2. Is this healthy, or is there something else I can use or buy that will improve my life?

So, lets talk about SALT.  In most people’s minds its the villian that doctors warn you about because it contributes to high blood pressure and several other health issues, and all for good reasons listed below.

BUT, what if there is a salty hero that you do need and it can improve your health?

Enter: Celtic Salt, today’s salty hero.

Here are some of the benefits of using Celtic salt and why we should not use table salt.

Celtic salt is a natural, unrefined salt that is harvested from the coastal regions of France. It is sun-dried and collected with wooden tools to preserve its living enzymes and trace minerals. Celtic salt has a grayish color and a moist texture, and it contains about 84 beneficial elements that are essential for human health. Table salt, on the other hand, is a refined, processed salt that is mostly sodium chloride with added chemicals and preservatives. Table salt is bleached, heated, and stripped of its natural minerals, and it may contain harmful substances such as aluminum, fluoride, and iodine.

Celtic salt has many health benefits that make it superior to table salt. Some of these benefits are:

  • It regulates blood pressure and fluid balance. Celtic salt provides the right amount of sodium that the body needs to control blood pressure and volume. It also helps maintain an electrolyte balance and prevent water retention. Table salt, however, can cause high blood pressure, edema, and dehydration due to its excess sodium and lack of other minerals.
  • It supports the immune system and wound healing. Celtic salt has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that help fight infections and heal wounds. It also helps eliminate excess mucus and congestion in the respiratory system. Table salt, on the other hand, can suppress the immune system and increase inflammation and mucus production.
  • It enhances brain function and mood. Celtic salt nourishes the nerve cells and improves their communication and processing of information. It also helps remove toxins and acidity from the brain cells, which can improve mental clarity, memory, and mood. Table salt, however, can impair brain function and cause neurological problems such as insomnia, depression, and anxiety.
  • It alkalizes the body and prevents diseases. Celtic salt helps balance the pH level of the body and make it more alkaline. This prevents the accumulation of acid wastes in the cells and tissues, which can cause diseases such as cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, and diabetes. Table salt, on the other hand, can acidify the body and create an environment for disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Celtic salt contains about 84 minerals and trace elements that are essential for human health. Some of the key minerals found in Celtic salt include:

  • Sodium: This mineral helps regulate blood pressure, fluid balance, nerve impulses, and muscle contractions. It also plays a role in nutrient absorption and transport. Celtic salt contains about 33% sodium1.
  • Chloride: This mineral works with sodium to maintain fluid balance, blood pressure, and pH levels. It also helps produce stomach acid and transport carbon dioxide. Celtic salt contains about 50.9% chloride1.
  • Magnesium: This mineral is involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body, including energy production, muscle function, nerve transmission, blood sugar regulation, and bone health. It also helps prevent muscle cramps, headaches, and insomnia. Celtic salt contains about 0.3% magnesium1.
  • Potassium: This mineral helps balance sodium levels, regulate heart rhythm, lower blood pressure, and support nerve and muscle function. It also helps prevent kidney stones and osteoporosis. Celtic salt contains about 0.15% potassium1.
  • Calcium: This mineral is the most abundant in the body and is mainly found in the bones and teeth. It helps maintain bone density, muscle contraction, nerve signaling, blood clotting, and hormone secretion. It also helps prevent osteoporosis and dental decay. Celtic salt contains about 0.1% calcium1.
  • Iron: This mineral is essential for the production of hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in the blood. It also supports immune function, energy metabolism, and cognitive development. It also helps prevent anemia and fatigue. Celtic salt contains about 0.014% iron1.
  • Manganese: This mineral is a cofactor for many enzymes that are involved in antioxidant defense, energy production, bone formation, wound healing, and neurotransmitter synthesis. It also helps regulate blood sugar levels and prevent diabetes. Celtic salt contains about 0.01% manganese1.
  • Zinc: This mineral is important for immune function, wound healing, growth and development, taste and smell perception, and reproductive health. It also helps prevent infections, acne, and hair loss. Celtic salt contains about 0.005% zinc1.

Other trace elements found in Celtic salt include copper, iodine, selenium, chromium, cobalt, boron, molybdenum, nickel, silicon, vanadium, and more2 3 4. These elements have various roles in the body and may help prevent or treat various health conditions.

  • In conclusion, Celtic salt is a natural, unrefined salt that provides many health benefits for the human body. It is rich in minerals, enzymes, and electrolytes that support various bodily functions and prevent diseases.
  • Table salt is a refined, processed salt that is harmful for the human body. It is high in sodium chloride and low in other minerals, and it contains chemicals and preservatives that can cause health problems. Therefore, it is advisable to use Celtic salt instead of table salt for a healthier lifestyle.
